2Y Axis

Last updated: July 10, 2020

Widget Size: 2 x 1

This widget allows you to plot up to 2 line plots on one Y-axis scale against one bar plot on another Y-axis scale. This can be very useful when the 2 points have very different scales of units. For example outside (and optionally inside temperature) in degrees C as line plots against energy usage measuring thousands of kWh on other Y-axis scale.

This widget can display in 3 views:

  • Yearly: The data of the base points is summarised into 12 monthly values.
  • Monthly: The data of the base points is summarised into daily values for that month.
  • Daily: The data of the base points is summarised into hourly values for that day.

Customisation

Value Default Comment
Widget Heading 2 Y Axis Enter the name of the widget as it is to appear in the heading.
Drilldown Default A drilldown to Multiple Charts or Comparison Chart will take the user to the last 7 days of data irrespective of the date being viewed in the widget. Specify the Comparison Chart URL (comparisonChart.jsp) or the Single Charts URL (multipleCharts.jsp)
Drilldown Target 2 Y Axis Decide if you want the drilldown to open in a new window, same page etc.
  • actionFrame - The drilldown opens in the same frame (this is default).
  • _blank - The drilldown opens in a new window or tab. _self - The drilldown opens in the same frame - this is the widget.
  • _parent - The drilldown opens in the parent frame - this is the dashboard.
  • _top - The drilldown opens in the full body of the window - this is the entire application space.
Loop Through Periods Continuous loop through of time periods: Year > Month > Day then back to Year > Month > Day, etc. If set to No, then from Day view the drilldown will go directly to Single Chart.
Start Month January You might want to represent the year view as starting in the financial year in April. This parameter lets you do so.
Axis 1 Label The name (and units) of the first line trace point The label for the line axis
Axis 2 Label The name (and units) of the bar trace point The label for the bar axis
Point x Colour (x3) Colour of the relative plot; the colour of the Y axis takes its colour from this value. Colours are: RED, GREEN, BLUE, DK BLUE, ORANGE, PURPLE, and BLACK.
Summary Point x(x3) SUM AVG/MAX/MIN/SUM/COUNT - The formula to be applied for the daily, monthly, yearly aggregated data view for relative Point
Start Period Year The initial data view that is presented to the user (Year/Month/Day).
Y Axis x Start (Year View) (x2) AUTO The lower bound of the relative axis in YEAR view. If left to AUTO, it is calculated and scaled according to the data plotted against it.
Y Axis x End (Year View) (x2) AUTO The upper bound of the relative axis in YEAR view. If left to AUTO, it is calculated and scaled according to the data plotted against it.
Y Axis x Start (Month View) (x2) AUTO The lower bound of the relative axis in MONTH view. If left to AUTO, it is calculated and scaled according to the data plotted against it.
Y Axis x End (Month View) (x2) AUTO The lower bound of the relative axis in MONTH view. If left to AUTO, it is calculated and scaled according to the data plotted against it.
Y Axis x Start (Day View) (x2) AUTO The lower bound of the relative axis in DAY view. If left to AUTO, it is calculated and scaled according to the data plotted against it.
Y Axis x End (Day View) (x2) AUTO The upper bound of the relative axis in DAY view. If left to AUTO, it is calculated and scaled according to the data plotted against it.
Y Axis x Reverse (x2) FALSE If you want the relative axis to be shown upside down (lowest number at top), then set this to True.
Decimal Places - Point x (x3) 1 The number of decimal places that will appear in the mouse over tooltip of the relative point.
Units Position - Point x (x3) AFTER The display position (Before or After) for the units that appear in the mouse over tooltip of the relative point.
Point x Line Style (x2) Line Only The style of the relative point's line. Multiple options in the drop-down, which are all self-explanatory. Combinations, of Line Only, Line + Point[Circle/Square/Triangle], and Point[Circle/Square/Triangle].
Show Legend No If you have one line plot, then the title of the axis of that plot (e.g., Pointname) may be enough to identify the line, so a legend is not needed. Where you have two line plots, one label on the axis will not be enough to distinguish which line is which. Switch the legend on (Yes) to do this. All displayed points (bar and line) will have entries on the legend.
Show Bar Axis on the Left NO YES/NO: The bar axis is usually on the right hand side of the graph. If you want this reversed (with the bar axis on the left and the line axis on the right), then set this parameter to YES.
3D NO
  • NO - Display bars in 2D.
  • YES - Display bars in 3D.
  • CIRCLE - Display bars as 3D columns.
Soft Lighting NO YES/NO: Make the gradients on the bars softer.
Refresh Period No Refresh Select a refresh period from the drop-down menu from between 15 seconds to 1 hour, or no refresh at all.
